An incident of domestic violence involving Inverness landscape gardener Shaun Flaherty has resulted in a restraining order being issued against him by the Inverness Sheriff Court. Flaherty’s ex-partner expressed fear of him and requested a non-harassment order for her safety.
The altercation took place at the woman’s residence in Kiltarlity on April 2 last year, prompting concerned neighbors to alert the authorities. Upon arrival, the police discovered that the situation had escalated into a physical confrontation, leading the woman to flee the scene. Flaherty later confessed to engaging in a heated argument with his girlfriend, acknowledging his regrettable actions.
During the court hearing, Fiscal depute Shay Traynor emphasized the woman’s profound fear of Flaherty, underscoring the necessity of a non-harassment order to protect her well-being. In response, Flaherty’s defense solicitor, Duncan Henderson, highlighted his client’s remorse and proactive steps to seek psychiatric assistance following the incident.
