A tragic accident occurred on the Edinburgh bypass involving three vehicles. The vehicles involved were a grey Volkswagen Transporter campervan, a grey Volkswagen Tiguan, and a red Vauxhall Corsa. The collision took place on the A720 between Gogar roundabout and Hermiston Gait around 9:10 am on Thursday.
Emergency services responded to the scene, and the driver of the Corsa, a 53-year-old man, was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The driver of the Tiguan sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the driver of the campervan did not suffer any injuries in the collision.
Sergeant Grant Hastie expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and assured that they would receive support throughout the investigation process. Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the crash and are urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
