Actor and stunt coordinator, Charlie Allan from the Scottish Borders, recently reached his £25,000 fundraising goal for treatment after injuring his leg while building an access platform to his gym. This injury led to an arterial thrombosis diagnosis, preventing him from having a vein grafted from his right leg.

However, Allan hopes to undergo a procedure called endovascular thrombectomy in Europe to aid in his recovery. To cover the costs of this procedure, he turned to GoFundMe for support. Much to his surprise, stars Russell Crowe and Sam Heughan stepped in to help.

Crowe, who had previously worked with Allan on Gladiator and Robin Hood, generously donated £5000 to the fundraiser. Heughan, known for his role in Outlander, also contributed £2000. Allan expressed his gratitude for their support, particularly highlighting Crowe’s unexpected donation despite his initial wishes.

The fundraiser was set up by friends Randy Dedrickson and Stewart Flora, aiming to not only restore Allan’s health but also his spirit and ability to be with his family and contribute to the community. Crowe took to social media to promote the cause, emphasizing Allan’s talent and character from their time working together.

Allan, with a background in martial arts, shared that he got into film and television combat three decades ago. Despite initially being hesitant about the fundraising efforts, he acknowledged the crucial role played by his wife and friends in getting the initiative off the ground. Once he completes his recovery, Allan looks forward to returning to work and spending quality time with his young son.

The overwhelming support and generosity shown by the community and these two actors have deeply touched Allan, inspiring him to focus on his rehabilitation and future acting projects.
