A convoy has been organized to sign a book of condolences for Alex Salmond in Edinburgh. The book was opened at the Scottish Parliament to allow people to pay their respects to the former first minister, who passed away suddenly at the age of 69 from a suspected heart attack while attending a conference in North Macedonia.
His body has been returned to Scotland for a private funeral next week. The Alba Party has arranged for a convoy to travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh to sign the book of condolences and pay their respects. Participants are encouraged to decorate their cars with Saltires and pictures of Salmond.
The convoy is set to depart from Glasgow Green on Saturday, with a meeting time of 10:30am. If necessary, there will be a stop at the Showcase Cinema carpark in Coatbridge to pick up additional participants. The journey is expected to take about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on the route and traffic conditions.
Organizers have advised that the Scottish Parliament prohibits visitors from displaying Saltires or political statements, but they hope this small tribute will honor the late Alex Salmond. Participants are invited to join the convoy and pay their respects to the former first minister.
