A tragic accident in Aberdeenshire has resulted in the death of a man after his car crashed on an unclassified road. The incident, involving a black Skoda Octavia estate car, happened between the A980 at Torphins and the B9119 at Tornaveen.

Authorities believe the crash occurred sometime between 11.15pm on Thursday and 6.30am on Friday. Upon discovery of the car, emergency services rushed to the scene where the driver, a 64-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead.

Sergeant Pete Henderson of Police Scotland expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died, and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the accident.” He urged anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle or have relevant dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.

It is believed that the car’s journey may have commenced in Edzell around 10.30pm on Thursday, November 28, potentially taking the route over the Cairn O’ Mount B974. Therefore, individuals with any information that could aid the authorities are encouraged to contact Police Scotland at 101, quoting incident number 0454 dated Friday, November 29.
