best-pubs-in-ellon-a-review-of-5-popular-spots

So, like, I’m Joanna Bremner, a total food and drink journalist, and I decided to hit up five pubs in Ellon, a tiny town in Aberdeenshire. The sun was shining, and I was ready to review these joints on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Growing up just a stone’s throw away, I’ve been to a couple of these spots before, but this time, I was on a mission to check out the vibes, drinks, and décor of each place.

New Inn Hotel: This place had a separate door just for the bar, which was kinda cool. The inside was all classy and traditional, with some fancy cocktails on the menu. Service was quick and friendly, and the beer garden outside was a total vibe with fairy lights and fake ivy. Super chill atmosphere with friends catching up and families hanging out.

Buchan Hotel: This spot by the roundabout was a bit quiet but had a speedy and friendly service. The décor was alright with a pool table, dart board, and some happy customers. I sipped on my Guinness 0.0% and soaked in the old-school vibes. Oh, and they had Moto GP on the TV if that’s your jam.

The Bridge Bar: I had driven past this place a million times but never actually went in. It was buzzing with regulars and had a lively atmosphere. No lime for my drink, but blackcurrant did the trick. Fruit machines, dart board, footie on the telly, and 80s hits in the background – this place had it all.

The Tolbooth: I used to stare at this pub from the library as a kid, but this was my first time inside. Scottish beers on tap, cocktails flowing, and a cozy interior with red walls and tartan carpets. The beer garden was calling my name, with cherry blossom trees and a covered area with heaters. Locals were laughing and having a great time – the only downside was the lack of music outside.

Brewdog DogTap: Last stop was at Brewdog DogTap, but it was too windy to chill outside. Scottish beers on deck, cocktails galore, and indie hits playing in the background. The place had that signature BrewDog vibe with gnarled wooden tables, industrial-looking roof, and a huge shark hanging from the ceiling. I couldn’t resist the chicken wings and ended up munching away while checking out the wee shop.

Verdict: Ellon has more to offer than just BrewDog – these other pubs and bars are holding it down. The vibes were solid all day, and I’ll definitely be back for another round soon. My top picks would be The Tolbooth, Brewdog DogTap, New Inn Hotel, The Bridge Bar, and Buchan Hotel. Let me know your fave spot in Ellon in the comments below.
