On November 5th, Aberdeen hosts its annual fireworks display, a much-anticipated event that draws a big crowd. This year, the display has been moved from its usual beachfront location due to construction works. The new spot for the fireworks will be at the North Pier near Footdee.
For those planning to attend, the fireworks display will kick off at 7:30 pm. Food trucks will be open along the esplanade to cater to hungry spectators. Additionally, nearby restaurants at Queens Park, including Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays, Burger King, Muzo’s, and Cartoos Grill, offer dining options.
While previous displays featured music, this year’s event will not be synchronized to any tunes. The best views of the fireworks can be found along the esplanade near the Footdee public toilets. Alternatively, areas like Greyhope Road and St Fittick’s Road will also provide good vantage points for the show.
To manage the crowd effectively, the council has advised against trying to watch the fireworks from Footdee. Public viewing will be exclusively from the esplanade, ensuring that access is reserved for residents and businesses only.
For those driving to the event, park and ride services are available from Bridge of Don, Kingswells, and The Aberdeen Altens Hotel. Parking spaces are limited, especially for disabled visitors, and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Road closures will be in effect to facilitate the event. Starting from 4 pm until 9 pm, roads such as Greyhope Road, St Fittick’s Road, and Coast Road will be closed. Additional closures will occur closer to the event start time, including areas like Esplanade, Pocra Quay, North Pier Road, South Square, and more.
