Isabella Turner, a 17-year-old army cadet from Moray, has recently been recognized for her outstanding work in supporting children from armed forces families. She was awarded the British Citizen Youth Award at a ceremony held at the Palace of Westminster in London, where she received the honor from former Pussycat Dolls singer Kimberly Wyatt.

Isabella, a Cadet Lance Corporal from 1st Battalion the Highlanders, North East Scotland, was commended for her efforts in helping young people with their mental health, particularly those who have parents serving in the armed forces. Nominated by the Army Cadet Charitable Trust (ACCT UK), Isabella has always been dedicated to supporting her peers and ensuring that children from forces families feel included and supported in their community.

In addition to encouraging youngsters to join youth groups like the Army Cadets to foster new friendships, Isabella has collaborated with other cadets on the “Your Mind Matters” hub for Forces Children Scotland. This initiative provides valuable support to forces children, even after their parents transition back to civilian life. As a child of ex-armed forces parents herself, Isabella co-founded the Tornado of Change project in Scotland, offering free guidance and assistance to young people facing challenges.

The British Citizen Youth Award recognizes young individuals under the age of 18 who are making extraordinary contributions to their communities. Isabella’s dedication to helping others and her commitment to supporting forces children have earned her this prestigious accolade. The award, symbolizing “For the Good of the Country,” is only presented to a select number of exceptional young people each year.

Isabella’s efforts and initiatives have had a significant impact on the lives of many young people, and her selfless work has made her a deserving recipient of the British Citizen Youth Award. The Army Cadets organization is immensely proud of her accomplishments and the positive difference she has made in her community. Isabella’s commitment to supporting and empowering forces children is truly commendable, and her recognition serves as a testament to her dedication to helping others.
